Depending on the product and regulatory pathway, development may require technical testing and validation before the commercial specification is established.
Testing is determined by the product, formulation, packaging, intended use and applicable regulatory requirements. Not every test applies to every product.
Pilot feedback and technical findings give us something much more valuable than assumptions: a physical product we can evaluate and improve.
Depending on the project, refinement may involve ingredient concentrations, raw-material grades, texture, viscosity, flavor, solubility, preservation, packaging compatibility, manufacturing process, cost structure, or claims and regulatory requirements.
Once product feedback, technical requirements, packaging decisions and applicable regulatory considerations have been resolved, the final commercial specification can be established.
This becomes the defined product that can move forward into commercial manufacturing.
